\nLast year, the Iranian Chamber of Commerce hosted more than 500 foreign delegations, and the first point that members of these delegations brought about in relation to investment in Iran was the question of lack of transparency and outbreak of corruption in the government\u2019s administrative offices, according to Massoud Khouansari, head of Tehran’s Chamber of Commerce. Because of corruption, the rate of foreign investment growth in Iran is negative, which has resulted in contraction and capital flight from Iran. When this happens, the capital will tend to go to brokerage investment\u2014which in turn deepens and institutionalizes corruption. According to Transparency International, Iran ranks 131 among 167 countries. Allegations of corruption against the sons of Hashemi Rafsanjani head the Expediency Council and sons of Nategh-Nouri, head of Inspection Office of the Supreme Leader have led to the loss of confidence among foreign investors, confirming the theory of administrative corruption in the Iranian regime. In promoting accountability and transparency and fighting corruption, the writer believes that all officials and authorities should start with themselves.

\nThe rise of Russian power years after Warsaw Pact collapse is part of what is called “Putinism”, named after Russian President Vladimir Putin. The emergence of Russian power is due to Russia\u2019s military successes in the Syrian war, and its commitment to bring about changes on the ground and not just through peaceful talks. The indifference of Western countries to Russia\u2019s presence in Ukrainian territory marks the birth of a new order of power in the world. On the other hand, Barack Obama’s eight years of U.S. presidency led to the strengthening of \u201cPutin’s Russia\u201d, and with all the talks about the possible friendship between Trump and Putin, we can expect a greater opportunity for Russia\u2019s strength to grow.

\nThe editorials of 21 December 2016 had all highlighted Russian Ambassador\u2019s assassination in Ankara, with many opinions and speculations about its causes. But Iranian press were more focused on Iranian attitudes toward Turkey and Erdogan than the facts of the assassination. Despite relative closeness between Turkey and Iran, which was clearly evident in the tripartite meeting bringing them both to Russia for talks on Syria\u2019s future, Iran still accuses Turkey of supporting terrorist groups and sees its interferences in countries of the region as seeking to rebuild the Ottoman Empire. And this is while Iran closes its eyes to its own ambitions and interventions in Syria and Iraq. Iranian newspapers held that Erdogan\u2019s character, as well as his fondness of extremist ideas and exploitation of religious feelings of Turkish people in his struggle with political rivals, is what led to the growth of extremist ideas and the emergence of terrorism in Turkish society and even within Turkish institutions themselves. Meanwhile, these newspapers forget that the Iranian regime follows publically hostile policies against all– whether towards the West with the slogan of death to America and the West, or continuously towards the countries in the region.

\nThere is no doubt that the nominating a candidate for elections is crucial for Fundamentals, despite their inability to identify one yet. There are political parties and groups within conservative current, such as (Mo\u2019talefeh) Coalition Party, that believe they have a mission, feeling that they should have more power. When “Habibollah Asgaroladi”, the founder of “Mo\u2019talefeh”, was alive, he was in charge of making most of the Fundamentals \u2019 decisions. And now, after his death, “Mo\u2019talefeh” still believes that they can make the Fundamentals\u2019 machine move again. If their candidate can attract people\u2019s attention, then “Mo\u2019talefeh” will be successful in moving conservatives out of stagnation, bringing about a considerable change in this political current. Overall, conservatives should not be underestimated as they are powerful and can decide to change the game to their own advantage.

Tayebnia said that oil price in 2014 was $105 per barrel, but in 2015, it reached to less than $30. Economy Minister maintained that oil price drop led to intensifying inflation and decreasing production rate in Iran. Tayebnia stated that before JCPOA Iran could not export more than 1 million barrels of oil, but \u201cnow we can export twice as many.\u201d

In Iraq\u2019s Defense Ministry\u2019s statement, it is mentioned that 32 vessels of both countries\u2019 naval forces were present in this military maneuvers which took place in borderline waters of the two countries.

\nUnited Nations General Assembly approved a resolution expressing \u201cserious concern\u201d over torture, high rate of execution, restriction on freedom of assembly, expression, and religious beliefs, widespread arbitrary detentions, discrimination against women, ethnic and religious minorities in Iran. The resolution, introduced by Canada and co-sponsored by 41 other countries, was ratified by a vote of 85 to 35 with 63 abstentions. Iran had previously denied Western countries\u2019 claims in this regard, saying this country is a religious democracy which has always been against any kind of discrimination as well as the instrumental or political use of human rights issue.
