In a recent threat against Saudi Arabia, Iranian Defense Minister said Iran will hit back at most of Saudi Arabia except for Islam\u2019s holiest places if the kingdom does anything \u201cignorant\u201d, reported Reuters. This was after a Saudi prince threatened to move the \u201cbattle\u201d to Iran.
\n\u201cIf the Saudis do anything ignorant, we will leave no area untouched except Makkah and Medina,\u201d Iranian Defense Minister said.
\nDehghan, speaking to Al-Manar TV, commented on Saudi Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman\u2019s remarks on Tuesday, who said any contest for influence between the Sunni Muslim kingdom and the revolutionary Shi\u2019ite theocracy should take place \u201cinside Iran, not in Saudi Arabia.\u201d
\nPrince Mohammed discarded the idea of any dialogue with Iran and promised to protect his kingdom from Tehran\u2019s efforts to control the Muslim world. \u201cWe know that we are a main goal for the Iranian regime,\u201d he added, \u201cWe will not wait until the battle comes to Saudi Arabia, but we will work to have the battle in Iran rather than in Saudi Arabia.\u201d
\nFollowing Dehghan\u2019s warning to Saudi Arabia, Major General Mohammad Baqeri, the head of the Iranian armed forces, threatened Pakistan with military actions against the Sunni militant group in that country.
