{"id":7783,"date":"2020-04-08T16:30:01","date_gmt":"2020-04-08T13:30:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rasanah-iiis.org\/english\/?p=7783"},"modified":"2020-04-09T13:58:06","modified_gmt":"2020-04-09T10:58:06","slug":"rasanah-participates-in-disinformation-in-the-time-of-coronavirus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rasanah-iiis.org\/english\/news\/rasanah-participates-in-disinformation-in-the-time-of-coronavirus\/","title":{"rendered":"Rasanah Participates in \u2018Disinformation in the Time of Coronavirus\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/rasanah-iiis.org\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/04\/Rasanah-Participates-in-\u2018Disinformation-in-the-Time-of-Coronavirus\u2019_\u0661\u0664\u0665\u0668\u0662\u0666-1024x867.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7784\" width=\"976\" height=\"826\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The International Institute for Iranian Studies (Rasanah), represented by its researcher Sulaiman Alwadai, participated in an online discussion, \u2018Disinformation in the Time of Coronavirus.\u2019 The discussion was hosted by the Euro-Gulf Information Center (EGI) on April 7, 2020 to discuss the disinformation in the time of coronavirus, actors, motivations, modus operandi and ways to tackle these.<br>Martina Klimes, a speaker at the discussion, stated the significance of water and climate change for security and in disinformation campaigns, highlighting that state and non-state actors like ISIS have exploited the people\u2019s lack of knowledge to spread disinformation.<br>The second speaker, Alessandro Politi explained disinformation according to NATO\u2019s perspective, saying that Russia has a long experience with disinformation. Now it uses social media to serve the interests of its disinformation.<br>Sulaiman Alwadai discussed the Iranian disinformation campaigns since the outbreak of coronavirus, citing facts confirming how the Iranian government dealt with the coronavirus pandemic. In his discussion, Alwadai focused on two disinformation campaigns: The first campaign, the virus spread is a mere \u201cpropaganda\u201d triggered by Iran\u2019s enemies, according to the remarks of Iran\u2019s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
