A host of ambassadors and representatives from ASEAN (the Association of Southeast Asian Nations comprising Indonesia, Singapore, Brunei, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam) visited the headquarters of the International Institute for Iranian Studies (Rasanah) on Sunday, April 4, 2021, in Riyadh. Founder and President of Rasanah Dr. Mohammed Alsulami received the ambassadors and gave a brief overview of the institute and its research papers and publications. Advisors and researchers from the institute participated in the meeting where they exchanged views on several regional and international issues and ways of cooperation.
Dr. Alsulami underpinned the significance of enhancing researchers’ efforts to address Iran’s activities, whether its attempts to acquire nuclear weapons, the export of the 1979 revolution, its propagation of its version of the Shiite sect, its incitement of sectarianism, and the Iranian government’s project to spread its influence in countries across the Middle East and beyond. The ambassadors expressed their happiness over the visit, which they described as highly significant. They affirmed the necessity to forge collaboration between Rasanah and think tanks in their countries.
