Rasanah Symposium Explores Future of Saudi-US Relations Ahead of Trump’s Visit

Ahead of US President Donald Trump’s visit to Saudi Arabia, the International Institute for Iranian Studies (Rasanah) hosted  “The Future of Saudi-US Relations” symposium on May 12, 2025. The event featured three key sessions and was inaugurated by H.E. Ambassador Ali Awadh Asseri, vice chairman of Rasanah’s Board of Trustees.

 The opening session, “Saudi-US Relations During the Trump Administration: Political and Diplomatic Dimensions,” featured H.E. Dr. Khalid al-Jindan, former under secretary for bilateral relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Nawaf Alissa, director of speechwriting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. H.E. Dr. Ali Awadh Asseri moderated the session.

The second session, “Saudi-US Military and Political Cooperation: Realities and Aspirations,” was delivered by Rasanah’s Director of Studies and Research, retired Maj. Gen. Ahmed al-Maimoni, and moderated by Rasanah’s Vice President, Dr. Ahmed al-Garni.

 The third session, “The Future of Saudi-US Coordination on Regional and International Issues,” was presented by Dr. Mansour al-Marzouqi, director of the Center for Strategic Studies at the Prince Saud al-Faisal Institute, and moderated by retired Maj. Gen. Ahmed al-Maimoni.
