The International Institute for Iranian Studies (Rasanah) takes part in the 54th edition of the 2023 Cairo International Book Fair organized by the General Egyptian Book Organization. The fair is held under the theme “Egypt’s Identity – Culture & the Question of the Future.”  The fair starts on January 24, running for 12 days, to February 6, 2023, at the Egypt International Exhibition Center, New Cairo.

Rasanah, at its booth CI4-(3), displays a number of its publications on Iranian, regional and international affairs, including its Iranian Issues Series, Annual Strategic Reports, and peer-reviewed Journal for Iranian Studies in Arabic and English. This is in addition to a number of books, including The Military Institution in Iran Between Revolution and Statehood; The Shiite Jurisprudence of Mahdism: Iranian Religious Currents Against the Supreme Leader’s Thought; Iraq’s Centrality in Iranian Strategic Thinking; The Other Arab in Iranian Modern Mentality: A Study in Light of Iranian Orientalism; Towards a New Strategic Thinking; Iran Supreme Leadership Usurped Power; Khomeini in France: The Life of the Ayatollah; The Iranian Role in Yemen and Its Implications for Regional Security; Iran’s Penetration in the Maghreb: Mechanisms, Implications, and Options for Confrontation; Democracy in Iran, Why It Failed and How It Might Succeed; Iran’s Presence in the Red Sea and the Horn of Africa; Factional Protests and Social Mobilization in Iran; Iran’s Software Piracy and Digital Militias: Its Threats and Unannounced War Against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; Silent Victims; Iran’s Border Regions and Geopolitical Spheres; and Military Encyclopedia (published in Arabic, English and Persian).

The most recent publication is also presented – The Iran-Saudi Arabia Conflict Post 2011, authored by Dr. Fathi al-Desuqi, a researcher on Iranian affairs. The book casts light on the conflict between Iran and Saudi Arabia following the 2011 Arab uprisings; the so-called Arab Spring. It also analyzes Saudi and Iranian perceptions of the Middle East after the “Arab Spring” based on their respective strategic advantages and capabilities. Furthermore, it explores regional perceptions (Arab, Turkish, and Israeli), as well as international perceptions (American, Russian, European, and Chinese) on the Iranian and Saudi roles. The writer also sheds light on the tools and their nature – economic and political as well as elements of soft and hard power – that have been employed by both Saudi Arabia and Iran to fulfil their roles in Syria and Yemen.

Rasanah is a leading think tank that has participated in many book fairs in Saudi Arabia and abroad. For example, it has participated in the Frankfurt International Book Fair, Lahore International Book Fair, Sharjah International Book Fair, Beirut International Book Fair, Riyadh International Book Fair, Jeddah International Book Fair, Qassim International Book Fair and Medina International Book Fair.
