The International Institute for Iranian Studies (Rasanah) is participating in the 55th edition of the Cairo International Book Fair from January 24 to February 6, 2024. The fair’s theme is “Creating Knowledge, Preserving Words” and is organized by the General Egyptian Book Organization. Norway is the guest country for the event. The fair is being held at the Egypt International Exhibition Center in New Cairo and runs from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm every day, except for Thursdays and Fridays when it closes at 9:00 pm.

At Booth A64 (Hall 3), several of Rasanah’s prominent periodical and non-periodical publications on regional and international affairs are on display: the Iran Issues Series (IIS), Annual Strategic Report (English and Arabic) and Journal for Iranian Studies (JIS). This is in addition to the significant books published by Rasanah: The Military Institution in Iran Between Revolution and Statehood; Shiite Jurisprudence of Mahdism: Iranian Religious Currents Against the Supreme Leader’s Thought; The Iranian Supreme Leadership’s Usurped Power: Shiite Political Controversy Between Arab and Iranian Religious Authorities; Iraq’s Centrality in Iranian Strategic Thinking; The Other Arab in the Modern Iranian Mentality; Khomeini in France; The Iranian Role in Yemen and Its Implications for Regional Security; Iran’s Penetration Into the Maghreb: Mechanisms; Democracy in Iran: Why It Failed and How It Might  Succeed; Factional Protests and Social Mobilization in Iran; Iran’s Presence in the Red Sea and the Horn of Africa; Silent Victims; Iran’s Soft Piracy and Digital Militias: Its Threats and Unannounced War Against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; Military Encyclopedia (dictionary from Arabic Persian/Persian Arabic) and Geopolitical Project and National Project.

Rasanah is also displaying its latest releases: Jurists and Divine Sovereignty (Hākimiyya) in Iran, the second edition of Iran’s Security and Intelligence Circles, the English translation of Iran and Cultural Centers in Europe; Iran’s Policies Toward Central Asia and the Caucasus; Towards a New Strategic Thinking  and the Arabic translation of Under the Leader’s Cloak: How Khamenei’s Office Operates.

Jurists and Divine Sovereignty (Hākimiyya) in Iran, authored by Dr. Mohammed Alsulami and Dr. Mohammed al-Sayyad deconstructs the structure of the Iranian ruling system; its aspects of ideological violence and militant ideological interpretations that have put the  Iranian state on permanent alert and preparedness for a potential confrontation against “rivals” and  “enemies”   as well as against the coalitions of the so-called “oppressors” and “imperialists.” The book also sheds light on ideologically-oriented terms incorporated in the official speeches/rhetoric of Iranian political leaders. Across its 11 chapters, the book explores the origin and evolution of the Hākimiyya concept and the Iranian Constitution’s role in entrenching this concept. It also discusses how ideologized violence is justified. The book forecasts the future of Hākimiyya and its phases of decline and ability to survive amid ongoing political developments.

Rasanah has participated in various local and international book fairs such as: the Cairo Book Fair, Frankfurt Book Fair, Lahore International Book Fair, Sharjah International Book Fair, Beirut Book Fair, Amman International Book Fair, Algiers International Book Fair (SILA), Riyadh International Book Fair, Jeddah International Book Fair, Qassim Book Fair and Madinah Book Fair.
