Rasanah: The International Institute for Iranian Studies (IIIS) held a workshop entitled “The Future of US-Iran relations,” on Monday November 19 at its headquarters in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Eminent scholars, academics and diplomats attended the workshop. The first session entitled, “US-Iran Relations from Accommodation to Confrontation,” was moderated by the former Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Morocco Abdurrahman Gdaia. The presentations were done by Dr. Banafsheh Keynoush, visiting scholar at Princeton University and a non-resident fellow at IIIS; Norman T. Roule, former US National Intelligence Manager for Iran, and Michael Singh, Lane-Swig Senior Fellow and Managing Director at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy.
The second session was entitled, “The Reflections of US-Iran Relations on the Gulf States.” It was moderated by Naief Alhazmi, Rasanah’s advisor. The presentations were done by Abdelaziz Aluwaisheg, Assistant Secretary-General for Political and Negotiation Affairs at the Gulf Cooperation Council, and Mansour Almarzouqi, a researcher at the Prince Saud Al Faisal Center for Diplomatic Studies.
The new website for IIIS landmark ‘Journal of Iranian Studies’ (JIS) was officially launched at the workshop. The moderators and panelists were honored by IIIS for their valuable participation.
It is worth mentioning here that IIIS, is an international non-profit think tank, and it publishes research papers, as well as monthly and annual reports on Iranian affairs. It also provides strategic studies courses on Iranian affairs and holds seminars, workshops and conferences on issues pertaining to Iranian studies.
