On Wednesday, October 20, 2021, experts from the International Institute for Iranian Studies (Rasanah) held a virtual discussion with experts from the New Strategy Center in Romania regarding security challenges in the Black Sea region, the Balkans, the Middle East and North Africa.
The meeting included a briefing by Founder and President of Rasanah Dr. Mohammed Alsulami, former Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Pakistan and Lebanon Ali Asseri, and Vice President of Rasanah Dr. Ahmed Algarni.
On behalf of the NSC, an assessment of the security situation in the Black Sea region and the Balkans was given by Honorary President of the New Strategy Center Ambassador Sergiu Celac and members of the Scientific Council of the New Strategy Center MG (ret.) Leonardo Dinu and former Ambassador to Egypt, Oman and Kuwait Doru Costea. The meeting was moderated by Doru Costea and Dr. Alsulami.
The discussion took into account the geopolitical interactions in the Middle East, the dynamics in North Africa and the counter-terrorism activities in this area, as well as the Russian strategy in the Middle East and North Africa region.
The exchange of analysis and information between representatives of Rasanah and NSC is part of an initiative to present the security situation in the Black Sea region to leading think tanks and institutes abroad, thus contributing to a better understanding of the challenges faced in this region.
